Every Meal Counts! Simple Tools for Tough Cases: A Dermatologist Panel Discussion

  • Audience members will learn how hydrolysis reduces antigenicity of dietary protein, and how the degree of hydrolysis of protein may influence the outcome of diagnostic elimination diet trials. This discussion will include a brief literature review to help audience members choose elimination diets in an evidence-based fashion.

  • Audience members will learn a general diagnostic approach to itchy puppies and kittens, including ruling out ectoparasites, infection, and food allergy, and special considerations when working with this population of animals.

  • Audience members will learn about skin barrier structure and function, and review scientific evidence for nutritional strategies to support the skin barrier, including the use of specific nutrient blends, including B-vitamins and histidine, as well as fatty acids such as EPA & DHA to modulate inflammation.
