Baer Testing

ADAS is proud to offer hearing testing for your pet.  We offer the brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER) or brainstem auditory evoked potential (BAEP) test.   This test detects electrical activity in the nerve pathway from the inner ear to the brain.  Three small electrodes are placed on your pet’s head and neck.  Earphones are then inserted in the ear.  The earphone produces a small clicking sound and the electrodes can determine if your pet can hear the click.

A computer analyzes the data and creates a waveform graph that allows us to determine how well your pet can hear.  Each ear is tested individually.  It is not painful and can usually be performed without sedation.  A copy of the test results is provided.
